Description

The European Commission organised this workshop “Advanced Technology Policies for Green and Circular Industry” that will take place on Wednesday 10th of February, from 09:45 - 12:30 CET.

The Covid pandemic has accelerated technology and digital transformation in many cases but it raised fears about the further development of circular economy business models. Policy remedies focus on  tackling short-term economic problems even if long-term strategies still prevail including digital and sustainable development goals. How should recovery policies realise a green, climate resilient economy in the short and longer terms? How should policymakers foster the shift to circular economy and which advanced and digital technologies are key in this fight? How can digital transformation respect the environment? In this context, the objective of the policy seminar was to :

  • present national and regional policy initiatives that couple circular economy and advanced digital policies (e.g. related to energy efficient data centres, green cloud computing, intelligent machinery, AI for sustainability)
  • discuss the results of the ATI project so far and how it can better monitor advanced technologies for green industry in the future

The event took part of the #EUCircularTalks of the European Circular Economy Stakeholder Platform and the discussions continued in their forum.
