Description

In the midst of heated policy discussions about the supply and demand for advanced and digital technological skills, novel data sources can provide new insights into the topic of the new skills agenda for Europe. The ATI project used LinkedIn data with the aim to enriching the understanding of the supply of skills with a level of granularity that is not available in any of the traditional data sources. The share of skilled professionals employed across different economic sectors can also give some indication about the level of technology uptake in industry.

In this context, the online policy seminar:

  • introduced the Advanced Technologies for Industry project
  • presented the ATI analysis on skills based on LinkedIn
  • discussed the results of recent other projects using novel data sources for capturing skills
  • identified gaps in knowledge and brainstorm how to better match policy needs and data collection
