The updated EU industrial strategy highlights the need to accelerate the green and digital transition of EU industry and its ecosystems. To that end, it proposes working together with industry, public authorities, social partners and other stakeholders to design and implement Transition Pathways for each ecosystem.
The Transition Pathway for the agri-food industrial ecosystem was published on 11 March 2024 to support the transition towards a green, digital and resilient EU agri-food industrial ecosystem.
The pathway encourages industrial stakeholders to take up the EU Code of Conduct on Responsible Food Business and Marketing Practices and suggest actions to achieve the Code’s sustainability objectives.
Notably, the pathway sets up 46 actions under the following 8 Building Blocks:
- Sustainable Competitiveness
- Public Governance
- Social dimension
- Research and innovation (R&I) and technological solutions
- The Single Market and infrastructure
- Skills
- Investment and funding
- International trade and cooperation
To facilitate the implementation of the agri-food industrial ecosystem, a Transition Pathway Stakeholder Support Platform will be launched shortly.
