In January 2021 the Advanced Technologies for Industry (ATI) project published its report on European Union (EU) Technological trends and policies. The report provides an overview of the performance of the EU27 Member States in Advanced Technologies (AT) and an outline of the policy landscape supporting the production and uptake of Advanced Technologies at the EU, national and regional levels. Country performance regarding Advanced Technologies is presented based on a number of filed patents, trade and investment data.
The report consists of three sections. The first section outlines the strengths and weaknesses of the EU27 in terms of technology generation and uptake across the sixteen AT that are a priority for European industrial policy. The second section focusses on the EU framework of recent policy strategies and communications relevant for AT. The third section summarises examples of national and regional policies in the EU27 in support of AT and industrial transformation.
