Description
BIAS is your R&D partner for laser material processing and optical metrology in Germany. We aim to create knowledge for industrial applications together with and for partners from science and industry by researching and developing new methods and processes.
In our division optical metrology and optoelectronic systems, we are working in two different fields. We are researching robust and precise measurement and testing methods for a close-to-process quality assurance as well as developing micro- and nano-optical components for tailored design of wave fields. Furthermore, we are researching in the field of quantum sensing to develop new measurement systems for industrial use.
In the field of laser material processing, we are focusing on laser welding and brazing, additive manufacturing based on powder bed and directed energy deposition (DED) processes, as well as methods for surface modification like (micro) structuring of metals. An important part of our research and development is process monitoring for continually improved process understanding, which enables necessary process improvements.
