Description
The University of Warsaw Biological and Chemical Research Centre (CNBCh UW) serves as a centre for modern technologies by conducting scientific research that are strategically important for economic development of Poland. The CNBCh UW was established by the regulation of the Rector of the University of Warsaw on the 30th of May 2012 and it gathers the most talented young researchers, as well as experienced scientists from diverse disciplines who carry out innovative and interdisciplinary research at the interface of biology and chemistry. The mission of the center is to support the transfer of knowledge and technology into the economy, while strengthening collaboration between the University of Warsaw and the business sector.
Advanced research of the paramount scientific importance are carried out at the Centre that results enable further development of new technologies in the field of energetics, pharmaceutical analytics, medicines, biotechnology, protection of natural environment and cultural heritage. Scientific programs are dedicated to preparation of innovative solutions with practical implementation. Both new research infrastructure and highly specialized scientific personnel, guarantee that innovative studies are conducted at the world class level.
On the 18th of August 2014 CNBCh was granted an accreditation of the Polish Centre for Accreditation (AB 1525) for three laboratories: Expert Analytical Centre (LB1), Laboratory of Biogeochemistry and Environmental Conservation (LB2) and Laboratory of Structural and Physicochemical Research. Thanks to this, results obtained in the laboratories of the CNBCh UW are recognized in legally regulated areas, and in EU countries.
Main Tasks:
- Creating conditions for the realization of research projects (basic and applied) for employees of the Faculties of Biology and Chemistry;
- Contributing to qualitative and quantitative improvement of research, with particular emphasis on interdisciplinary research at the interface of biology and chemistry, and initiating new projects;
- Strengthening the collaboration between the University of Warsaw and the business sector;
- Supporting the transfer of knowledge and technology to the economy;
- Running specialized laboratories which provide their services to teams and research projects from the Faculties of Biology and Chemistry, other organizational units of the University of Warsaw and its external entities;
- Collaborating with the state and international research facilities;
- Organizing trainings in the framework of scientific fields explored at the CNBCh UW;
Apart from its research activity, the University of Warsaw Biological and Chemical Research Centre cooperates with external partners, offering them:
- Partnership in basic and applied research projects;
- Scientific collaboration with units from public and private sectors;
- Expert studies and commissioned research;
- Staff training for governmental and local-governmental units, and institutions form various sectors of economy,
