Description

FUNDACIÓN INSTITUTO DE TECNOLÓGICO DE GALICIA - ITG is a TECHNOLOGY CENTRE located in Galicia, Spain [No. 115 Spanish Ministry of Economy & Competitiveness Register]

We are a PRIVATE NON-PROFIT FOUNDATION set up in 1991

Our BOARD OF TRUSTEES are: Architects, Civil Engineers and Industrial Engineers Galician Associations, Mining Engineers’ Assoc., Galician Agronomic Engineers’ Council, Naval and Oceanic Engineers’ Assoc.; Galician Businessmen Confederation, and Universities of A Coruña, Vigo and Santiago de Compostela
We have certification in UNE-EN ISO 9001standard (Quality Management System) and in UNE 166002 standard (R&D&I management system)

At ITG we are organised in 5 INTERCONNECTED KNOWLEDGE AREAS, Energy, Water, Sensor & Comms, ICTs and Sustainable Construction

In Sensor & Comms, we have experience in Integral Systems and Solutions for remote control and monitoring mainly based on the open SWE (Sensor Web Enablement) of the Open Geospatial Consortium, OGC and OSGi (Open Services Gateway Initiative) standards.

In Energy sector, some areas of its expertise are: Building energy simulation and modeling, energy audits for industry and tertiary sector, software and hardware development for energy monitoring and analysis, energy management, renewable energy projects, and smart grids and district heating feasibility studies, amongst others.

ICT`s : Open Sources Technologies are the basis for our ICT´s R&D activities.

Services

Hardware prototyping design and development for remote monitoring based in sensors and wireless communications: Flexible and scalable Hardware and Software Architectures for DAQ systems, integration of heterogeneous and complex sensors from different manufacturers on the same datalogger, posting data to web-based datacenter applications, autoconfiguration and plug&play capabilities.

Data Analytics: Qualitative and quantitative techniques and processes used to modeling IoT data to generate useful information and supporting decision–making systems. Data analytics builds an analytical model, using predictive modeling tools or other analytics software and programming languages such as Python, R and Matlab.

Building Energy Simulation and Modeling
Through Design Builder, a specific building energy simulation software tool, ITG has extensive experience and background in:
- Assessing the effectiveness and optimization of heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) design alternatives
- Comfort analysis
- Characterization of thermal envelope
- CO2 emissions calculation from operation of building facilities
- Natural lighting studies

Energy Audits in Multiple Sectors
Since 2005, ITG has developed more than 300 Energy Efficiency Audits in different sectors: industry, construction, tertiary sector, water and marine (fishing vessels), etc.
- Analysis of technologies, facilities and production process
- Direct measurement with high technical equipment
- Energy savings’ identification and evaluation
- Analysis of specific conditions

Software and Hardware Development for Energy Monitoring and Analysis
ITG develops energy information systems and software engineering for efficient processing, data modeling, monitoring and exploitation by designing business rules, development of business intelligence layer and user interface; primarily using Web oriented architectures in combination with Open-Source technologies.
These systems display overall energy installation status in order to facilitate analysis and decision making of industry / building managers.
Energy Center, is a software tool, created by ITG, which allows the monitoring, analysis and control of a company's energy costs.

Energy Generation Technologies
Energy Consulting and project engineering are important activities of ITG, which lets the entity provide energetic solutions based on renewable energies appropriate for specific conditions and requirements:
- Analysis, detection and characterization of energy generation technologies (microCHP and renewable)
- Test of energy generation technologies
- Project engineering
- Software development for managing and operation

District Heating
District heating is a fundamental pillar for the decarbonization of the heating and cooling sectors. ITG have played an important role in district heating projects:
- Developing district heating projects based in biomass
- Analyzing the feasibility of waste heat recovery in refineries and in large industrial processes.
- Offering solutions for Combined Heat and Power heat use.

Smart Grids
Smart Grids are becoming a reality which increase the efficiency and energy savings in energy distribution. The number of projects related with smart grids and integration of renewable energy is growing continuously.
- Software development for monitoring, managing and operation of Smart Grid Systems.
- Feasibility studies in technical and economic terms.
- Planning and engineering design.
- Implementation of projects.

Zero Emission Buildings
ITG has important knowledge in systems for designing Nearly Zero Energy Buildings (NZEB) and Zero Energy Buildings (ZEB) and energy information tools associated.
In addition, it is important to highlight that ITG, in the field of sustainable construction, has been designated by BRE Global Ltd. (UK) to adapt, manage and lead BREEAM in Spain, the world’s leading design and assessment method for sustainable buildings.

Energy Planning
ITG simulates the operation of local, regional and national energy systems on an hourly basis, including the electricity, the heating and cooling, the industry, and the transport sectors. We are able to forecasts energy needs in the short, medium and long term and suggest actions that need to be taken for the sustainability of the system, for greenhouse gas mitigation, and for low emission development strategies.
