Description

The Institute for Nanophotonics Göttingen acts in close cooperation with research institutions and industrial enterprises from all over the world in the area of application-orientated laser research, thus contributing as an intermediary between research and industry to the opening up of new and promising markets.

The institute currently has four scientific departments: Optical Nanoscopy, Short Pulses / Nanostructures, Optics / Short Wavelengths and Photonic Sensor Technologies. They have gained worldwide reputation for research and development in the fields of laser physics, laser measurement techniques and use of lasers. This reputation is reflected in a multitude of international cooperations and development orders. Synergies between the universities, the institutes of the Max Planck Society and the regional precision mechanics and optics industries have developed. The research activities range from the development of contact-free laser measurement techniques used for environment relevant areas to product processing, as well as the manufacturing of new products using laser radiation and the development of new laser systems. The research and development results are commercialized by national and international industrial partners or distributed under a licensing agreement.
