Description

RISE is Sweden’s research institute and innovation partner. Through our international collaboration programmes with industry, academia and the public sector, we ensure the competitiveness of the Swedish business community on an international level and contribute to a sustainable society. Our 2,800 employees engage in and support all types of innovation processes. RISE is an independent, State-owned research institute, which offers unique expertise and over 100 testbeds and demonstration environments for future-proof technologies, products and services.

RISE Smart Hardware is a department focused on electronics, optics and communication technologies. As one of Europe’s top research institutes, we provide cutting edge resources and knowledge within electronics, optics and communication technologies. We have the facilities and lab resources to offer advanced R&D as well as small scale production and prototyping. Our mission is to find new ICT-solutions for existing and future demands, creating sustainable growth in industry and society. RISE Smart Hardware has 130 employees in Stockholm/Kista (HQ), Gothenburg, Norrköping, Lund and Hudiksvall.

Printed and Organic Electronics

Can you picture how electronic displays, transistors and energy sources roll out from traditional printing machines; quickly, cheaply, and eco-friendly? Can you imagine smart labels communicating with Internet services just by touching them? At RISE Printed and Organic Electronics, we can and we do. Printed Electronics offers tremendous opportunities in creating new and exciting products using traditional printing tools to add electronic and bio-electronic functions to paper and plastics. With the view to use innovation for growth - RISE Printed and Organic Electronics is primarily focusing on four applications in the field of Printed Electronics: Internet of Things, Packaging, Health Care and Construction.

We operate the Printed Electronics Arena, PEA and cooperate with industry and entrepreneurs to develop business opportunities within Printed Electronics. Our pilot-plant, PEA Manufacturing, is the heart of PEA and also the major test environment for the production of Printed Electronics in Sweden. At PEA-M we develop prototypes and carry out small scale production with the purpose to bridge the gap between research and the volume manufacturing of new products. Expertise is available in areas such as graphic design, physics, chemistry, machine operation and project management. PEA-M is a designated European “Pilot line Demonstrator” – an example of a successful test environment for the development of prototypes as well as production.
