Textile Research Institute Thuringia-Vogtland - TITV

The TITV Greiz is a renowned, business-related research institute which realizes both basic and application-oriented research in the field of special textiles, especially smart textiles. Based on the conventional textile technology as well as on flexible materials, the institute is continuously developing high-tech textiles in order to create new materials. The activities are mainly focused on:

On this basis, product and technology-oriented, textile innovations in the fields of electronics, microsystems technology, medical science, vehicle construction, sports and wellness as well as protection and safety engineering are developed.

With the help of its interdisciplinary research team, covering the fields the textile production chain, medical science, physics, electro-technology and chemistry, and its well-developed connections with universities and other institutes, the TITV Greiz is able to link the most important science fields for textile innovations. The resulting novel materials are both flexible and lightweight. Current developments include highly conductive threads, luminescent textiles as well as textile-based sensors and actuators.

Apart from its basic and application-oriented research projects, the institute is the competent partner for the solution of individual problems of its customers. Besides the competent and motivated staff, clients and partners can count on modern and extensive pilot plants for thread and surface formation, embroidery, finishing, coating and electro-technology. The in-house testing centre offers tests of product and quality characteristics, also using methods that were exclusively developed at the TITV Greiz. Moreover, the institute offers symposia, workshops and customer days which serve as a platform for information and discussion and for the presentation of the latest research results. The TITV Greiz is a competent partner for innovations - covering the whole process from the first idea to the end product - and for the solution of practically relevant problems.
